Biography
<b>Dr. Melissa Mecadon-Mann (she/her)</b>,<b> </b>Assistant Professor, Testing Coordinator,
School Counseling Field Placement Coordinator, and Co-Advisor of the Chi Beta Chi
chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. Dr. Mecadon-Mann completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education
and Supervision at Auburn University and her M.Ed. in Professional Counseling from
the University of West Georgia. She has 15+ years of experience in K-12 education
and worked most recently as a high school counselor in the metro-Atlanta area. Dr.
Mecadon-Mann owns a small private practice, Resilient Roots Counseling, working primarily
with adolescents and emerging adults. Dr. Mecadon-Mann serves on the Executive Board
with the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC). She is a Certified
School Counselor in Georgia, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia, a
National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). Dr.
Mecadon-Mann’s research interests revolve around advocacy and empowerment, cultural
and social justice, professional identity development, and trauma-informed practices.
