Biography

In 1983 I graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. From there, I moved to Boston, MA to work as a research technician at a small biotech firm for two years. In 1985 I moved to Durham, NC where I worked as a research technician at the Duke University Medical Center. In 1987, I began my graduate work in chemistry at NC State University working on an organometallic chemistry project. After getting my PhD at NC State in 1992, I spent two wonderful years (1992 to 1994) as a <i>Camille and Henry Dreyfus Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow</i> at the University of Colorado at Denver. After leaving Denver, my family and I moved to Cullowhee, NC to begin my career teaching and doing research at 蘑菇短视频. From 2003/2004 I was on sabbatical doing research on molecular machines with Professor David Leigh at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
