Biography

<b>Kerri A. Qualls</b>, PhD, RN, earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee, and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she also completed a graduate certificate in Nursing Education. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (TBSN) program at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in Cullowhee, NC.

Teaching Interests

She is passionate about helping nursing students build confidence and clinical judgment through supportive, student‑centered learning experiences. Her teaching interests include foundational nursing concepts, clinical decision‑making, health promotion, and the integration of evidence‑based practice into patient care. She is especially committed to easing students’ transition into clinical environments by creating clear structure, reducing anxiety, and fostering a collaborative learning culture. She is focused on mentoring students in research principles, reflective practice, and honors projects that encourage creativity and professional growth. Her teaching approach emphasizes compassion, communication, and helping students connect classroom learning with real‑world nursing practice.

Her scholarly interests focus on phenomenological research across diverse populations as well as enhancing student educational experiences and preparedness for the nursing workforce
