Biography
My name is Michael Mazarky, and I have been in public safety for over 26 years. Most
recently, I was the Emergency Management Director for Rabun County and was there for
over 7 years. Before that, I was a Sergeant with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
As a supervisor in Investigations, I was responsible for 6 investigators that handled
Crimes against persons (murders, rape, and child molestations) for example. Prior
to that, I was employed by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA)
Police Department for approximately 7 years. Assigned as a Police Sergeant in the
Emergency Preparedness Unit. Some of the duties and responsibilities of the unit include
conducting Senior Leaders Seminars, full-scale functional drills, managing federal
grants, conducting Threat and Vulnerability Assessments, Physical Security (access
control, fencing, and lighting), fleet management, and all terrorism-related activities
(threat levels).<br>I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice from North Georgia College and
State University in Dahlonega, Georgia, and graduated in 1999. I earned my master’s
in Criminal Justice, Security, and Administration in 2008.
