Biography

Dr. Lutken is an Assistant Professor of Psychology with a background in Cognitive Science and Linguistics. She holds a PhD in Cognitive Science from Johns Hopkins University as well as an MA in Linguistics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a BA in English from Whitman College. She was a teaching-postdoctoral researcher in the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science following the completion of her PhD. Generally, her research is focused on the underlying cognitive mechanisms relevant to language learning and language use.

Teaching Interests

General Psychology, Cognitive Psychology<br><br>Dr. Lutken is also interested in current research on theories of learning and teaching techniques and strives to incorporate these techniques into her teaching.

Research Interests

Dr. Lutken is primarily interested in the acquisition of complex syntax and the relationship between syntactic competence and the underlying cognitive mechanisms relevant to linguistic behavior (including, but not limited to working memory, inhibitory control, planning, and attention).
