Biography
Dr. Trombley is a native of Bury St. Edmunds, England, and began nursing studies at
Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. After immigrating to the United States, Dr. Trombley
graduated as a registered nurse from Excelsior College and later earned a Bachelor
of Science in Nursing in 2008. Dr. Trombley then earned a Master of Science in Nursing
from the University of Missouri in 2011 and became Board Certified as an Adult Psychiatric
Nurse Practitioner. From there, Dr. Trombley earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree
in 2013 from the University of Missouri, and subsequently became Board Certified by
the American Nursing Credentialing Center as a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Understanding the critical need for mental health care providers in North Carolina,
as outlined by the NC Office of Rural Health (ORH), the federal government, and local
communities, Dr. Trombley cofounded Prospect Behavioral Pediatrics and Psychiatry,
an outpatient mental health clinic, providing specialty, holistic pediatric mental
health care. To date, this service has provided care for 12,000 people in mental health
critical shortage areas in NC. Dr. Trombley has proudly served in the United States
Air Force as a Reserve Officer, attaining the rank of Captain as a commissioned officer.
While in service, she was the mental health program officer in charge, overseeing
a base-wide suicide prevention program. Dr. Trombley served as the Chair of the North
Carolina Nurses' Association Psychiatric Council and was awarded the NCNA Outstanding
Service Award by the North Carolina Nurses Association Board of Directors in 2025.
Teaching Interests
Dr. Trombley has extensive teaching experience in DNP/PMHNP programs. Achievements
include teaching at the University of South Alabama and East Carolina University,
as well as developing and directing the PMHNP program at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ.
Dr. Trombley has presented at numerous state and national conferences and has served
as a preceptor for over 10 universities across the nation, supporting over 20 PMHNP
students. Dr. Trombley was awarded the "Preceptor of the Year Award" from ECU College
of Nursing for work with their PMHNP students. This award recognizes a preceptor who
serves as an exemplary mentor and teacher to students.
