Biography
PT, DPT, OCS, DAC, FAAOMPT, Dip. Osteopractic<br><br>After earning a Doctor of Physical
Therapy degree, Dr. Jones practiced as a clinician in multiple settings including
inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, and sports medicine. During his orthopaedic
residency he fell in love with teaching, and became passionate about creating positive
change in the areas of healthcare and education. After residency, Dr. Jones had the
opportunity to direct outpatient and sports medicine clinics while completing a fellowship
program earning him the title of Fellow, American Academy of Manual Physical Therapists.
He has been fortunate enough to mentor residents and fellows and has a continued passion
for clinical education.<br><br>Dr. Jones joined the Department of Physical Therapy
in the Fall of 2019 and has had varied roles throughout his time at WCU. Currently,
he leads 2nd year musculoskeletal physical therapy and pain science content, while
assisting with 1st year examination courses. He is also significantly involved in
the student run Mountain Area Pro Bono Health services clinic as a lead supervising
clinician helping to facilitate Integrated Clinical Experiences for 1st and 2nd year
students.<br><br>Dr. Jones resides in Sylva, NC and loves his community. He has co-owned
a successful cash-based physical therapy clinic and Crossfit gym and continues to
treat patients through a cash-based model today. Outside of work, he enjoys most competitive
sports, but is active with the competitive Asheville Rugby Football Club and most
weekends can be found either playing rugby or paddling some of the beautiful whitewater
in the area.<br><br><b>What do you love the most about being a Catamount?</b><br>The
emphasis on teaching, collaboration of faculty, constant process improvement, and
the person centered approach to both education and clinical care.

Pain science, clinical communication strategies, biomechanics and pain, manual therapy.
