Biography
Dr. Ann Valle’s primary teachers include Robert Humiston, Eric Ohlsson, Wayne Rapier
and Burt Lucarelli. She studied Baroque oboe with Washington McLean and Gonzalo Ruiz.
Dr. Valle recently joined the faculty at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ where her responsibilities
include teaching applied oboe, studio class and chamber music. Dr. Valle was at the
University of North Florida in Jacksonville, where she taught oboe, music education,
and conducted the University Concert Band. She also served as the Director of Bands
at LaVilla School of the Arts in Jacksonville. For most of her career, Dr. Valle was
Visiting Professor of Oboe and Music Education at Stetson University.<br> <br>Dr.
Valle is an active recitalist and clinician. She has been a frequent performer with
various orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout Florida. She has performed recitals
for the International Double Reed conferences in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Melbourne,
Australia; Muncie, Indiana; and Birmingham, England. As a Baroque oboist, Dr. Valle
has participated in the Baroque Performance Institute at Oberlin College in Oberlin,
Ohio and the Western Baroque Festival in Seattle, Washington. She is an active member
of the International Double Reed Society, the College Music Society, the Music Educator's
National Conference, the Florida Music Educator's Association, the National Band Association,
and the Florida Bandmaster's Association.<br> <br>Outside of music, Dr Valle enjoys
being active with all outdoor activities, especially cycling (road and mountain),
hiking, running, photography, and travel. <br> <br>Dr Valle has a passion for French
oboe literature which inspired her to write her doctoral dissertation on the music
of Jean Françaix.
