Dining

On Campus Dining

We know there are many decisions to make when planning an event at Western Carolina University. One of the most common questions we receive is about food options, especially during the summer.

The Catamount Café is where most of our guests eat during their stay. The café offers a wide variety of options for everyone. It features seven different stations, including a grill, pizza bar, made-to-order sandwiches, Home Zone, and more. Our dining staff are happy to work with each group to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies. Please note that the number of stations open may vary based on the number of guests on campus.

During the summer, additional dining options are also available for guests who wish to purchase food outside of their meal plan. If you need a midday pick-me-up, stop by our on-campus Starbucks to enjoy a hot or cold beverage of your choice.

Catering for All

If your stay includes a special event or perhaps a celebration, consider creating a customized menu from our Catering department.  Our office takes pride in creating special moments throughout your stay.  For example, know that you will have a long meeting where caffeine is needed?  Consider a coffee break with dessert! What about celebrating a milestone within your group?  The Catering department can help you customize a delicious menu whether it be cake/punch or a sit down three course meal.

*Permits are required for alcohol service.

Commitment to Sustainability

Western NC is known for being environmentally conscious and supporting local industries.  Our dining operations embody these priorities every day. Catamount Dining’s Green Thread program provides the framework for efforts that include responsible sourcing of products, waste minimization and operational efficiency.  Among other initiatives, Catamount Dining sources food from local farmers and growers, has practiced trayless dining since 2009, and partners with local farms for post-consumer waste initiatives.

Testimonial

"All of the dining hall staff were friendly and kind. They seemed genuinely interested in our folks having a good dining experience. The dining manager worked with our team to tailor foods for our conference attendees, which was superb. The overall quality and breadth of selection was very good."
