Alumnus divides gift to create scholarship honoring educator wife, support athletics upgrades
April 30Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ alumnus and Asheville resident Stephen Hodge had a bit of difficulty deciding whether to direct a recent financial contribution for his alma mater to support academics or athletics. So, the banking executive who grew up in Rutherfordton reached the conclusion to do both.

April 28There’s a new member of the Division of Advancement team at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ, and her name is Maddie. She doesn’t have a last name because she doesn’t need one. Maddie is WCU’s first-ever virtual engagement officer, a non-human avatar powered by artificial intelligence.

April Tallant named director of Coulter Faculty Commons
April 23After a national search, April Tallant has been selected as the new director of the Coulter Faculty Commons effective July 1. Tallant will replace Eli Collins-Brown, who will be retiring at the end of June after serving nearly six years as the CFC director.

African American Alumni Society endows new scholarship fund
April 21An endeavor by members of Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµâ€™s African American Alumni Society to create a new student scholarship fund at their alma mater has crossed the $25,000 threshold necessary to start providing financial assistance on an annual basis.
