Graduation Versus Degree Conferral
Your diploma will be mailed to the address you provided on your graduation application. If this address has changed, you must notify graduation@wcu.edu to get your address updated. Updating your address in myWCU will not change your diploma mailing address.
Students will receive a Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ diploma cover on stage at the
commencement ceremony. Diplomas will be ordered every Friday as degrees are conferred.
The diploma will be mailed directly to the address you provided on your graduation
application. You will receive an e-mail notification to your Catamount email that
your diploma has been mailed.
Please note: If you have not received your diploma or if yours is received damaged, please send
an email to graduation@wcu.edu within six months from the date of your graduation. If it has been more than six
months, you may incur a fee for the reprinting of your diploma. When diploma orders
are placed, we will also order a Certified Digital Credential (CeCredential) to be
sent to your catamount email address and arrive typically within 14 business days.
Attending the commencement ceremony does not mean that you have graduated. The conferral process is when we officially award your degree. This process will begin approximately four business days after the commencement ceremony.
Degree candidates who do not clear outstanding requirements by the conferral deadline will generally have their graduation records administratively moved to the next semester. Students who are not eligible for re-enrollment and do not meet degree requirements will be notified by certified letter. Please confer with your advisor(s) / department head(s) on your remaining requirements.
Students who require any summer courses to complete degree requirements are eligible for Summer graduation. Summer degree conferral beings by the second week of August and continues for approximately 15 days. Summer graduates should expect to receive their diploma by mid-October.
The Office of the Registrar will accept scores for national challenge exams (such as CLEP or DSST) provided official scores are submitted for articulation to the Office of the Registrar prior to the 10th week of classes in a student's graduating semester. Students who take a national challenge exam but do not present scores prior to the 10th week of classes in the graduating semester could still potentially have a degree conferred but should NOT expect to be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony.
If you have completed any study abroad coursework, please make certain that you have filled out all necessary paperwork with the Office of Global Engagement.
