Alternate Format Textbooks
An alternate format textbook is an accessible version of a printed textbook. They come in digital formats like PDF, EPUB, or Word. These files are designed for students with disabilities. They allow for better usability with screen readers or text-to-speech software.

Frequently Asked Questions
Undergraduate students who can rent their textbooks from the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµbookstore do not have to provide us with a receipt.
Graduate students who are required to purchase their textbooks need to upload receipts into AIM when requesting digital textbooks.
At the beginning of each semester, the Office of Accessibility Resources will be processing a large number of requests. Also, we rely on textbook publishers (who also have a large number of requests) to deliver digital textbooks to us. Both of these factors can prolongue our turnaround time. Thank you for your patience while we do our best to complete your requests as quickly as possible.
If you are an undergraduate, please rent your textbook from the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµbookstore so that you can continue to work on your assignments while you wait for your request to be fulfilled. You have two options for text-to-speech in the meantime.
1. Come to the Office of Accessibility Resources and rent a to use on your physical textbook.
2. Take pictures of the textbook pages that you need right away, and upload them into your . You can use a free scanner app that will take clearer pictures and turn them into a PDF for you. I like to use !
No, you are not allowed to share them with anyone. Digital textbooks are only granted to eligible students with documented print disabilities and are protected under copyright law. When you submit your request on AIM, you are agreeing to abide by these laws.
