The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Technical and Professional Writing is designed
for students seeking advanced preparation for technical and professional writing careers
in fields that regularly recruit new writers, editors, publishing assistants, or promotional
talents. The program is especially targeted to those who are already working and wish
to strengthen their technical and professional writing skills, learn about new media
and how it affects communication and excel in writing across disciplines.
This certificate program will prepare students in the technical aspects of writing for
scientific and medical writing as well as the professional aspects of proposals and
grant writing. Students will also explore writing in digital environments

transcript. Should students wish to pursue a graduate degree, the courses in the Certificate
can be applied toward a Masters of Arts in English.
More About Our Certificate in Technical and Professional Writing
The Technical and Professional Writing Certificate is designed for those who are looking
to build new writing skills in order to advance in their current position, or those
looking to change careers. It leads to a Certificate awarded by the Graduate School
and a designation on the official transcript. Should students wish to pursue a graduate
degree, the courses in the Certificate can be applied toward a Masters of Arts in
English.
To apply, you'll need an undergraduate degree, supporting documents, and qualifying
test scores—or a waiver if you meet special requirements.
Complete 15 credit hours of approved coursework. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Successfully complete a final professional writing portfolio demonstrating mastery of program outcomes.
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµprovides a variety of resources to help students succeed in this program. Students
can access academic advising, career support, tutoring and writing centers, library
resources, and professional student organizations to enhance their learning and career
readiness.
