Engineering Technology Technical Operations

Prepare to lead in the design, automation, and management of modern manufacturing systems as a student in WCU's Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Technical Operations, a hybrid program designed for career-focused working adults who wish to pursue their degree through part-time study. The program offers a flexible combination of online coursework and evening classes available at multiple locations, and the first two years may be completed at any North Carolina community college or on campus in Cullowhee.  

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµalso offers a B.S. in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Applied Systems Technology, a residential program based at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµin Cullowhee. Both degree cocentrations equip students to excel in careers such as manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, industrial engineer, technical sales engineer, process engineer, and product development engineer.

What You'll Learn

 

The B.S. Engineering Technology-Technical Operations equips students with the technical knowledge and leadership skills needed to advance in modern manufacturing and engineering organizations. The program includes courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Operations Management, and Human Factors in Engineering Technology. Coursework includes parametric solid modeling, electrical systems, power transmission systems, quality, lean manufacturing, facility planning, and materials and processes. Students complete a senior capstone project within their industry or with another Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµindustry partner.

 

Where You'll Go

With a degree in engineering technology from WCU, graduates pursue careers in product design and development, manufacturing operations, applied systems design, maintenance and project management, engineering and technical sales, and service roles in industrial and manufacturing settings and government agencies. Career specialties include production manager, consultant, quality control supervisor, industrial designer, cost estimator, safety engineer, personnel or facilities manager, and technical education instructor.
