Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art: The BA in Art offers a flexible, interdisciplinary approach to studying art. Students
complete coursework in studio art and art history while also completing six credit
hours of world language and either a second major or a minor. Students can explore

Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art - Studio Art: The BFA in Art is a professionally focused degree for students seeking intensive
studio training and portfolio development. Students work closely with faculty mentors
while developing advanced skills in a chosen area of emphasis. This degree prepares students for professional artistic practice, graduate study,
and careers in creative fields.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art - Art Education: Students interested in becoming art teachers pursue the BFA in Art alongside the
Art Education program. Graduates earn both a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art and a Bachelor of Science in Education
(BSEd), preparing them to teach visual arts in K鈥�12 schools. Admission to the Art Education
program is managed through the College of Education and Allied Professions.

Our Visiting Artists program enhances the student experience by bringing in a variety
of professional artists and designers for lectures, critiques and creative projects.
This program exposes students to the best of what is going on in art and design today
and provides valuable professional contacts.
Our Art Major offers a dynamic, hands-on education in studio practice, visual thinking,
and creative problem-solving. Students develop technical skill, personal voice, and
a strong portfolio through close mentorship and interdisciplinary exploration.
Art students gain real-world experience through exhibitions, internships, and portfolio
development, preparing them for creative careers and graduate study.
The Art Minor allows students from any major to develop creative skills, explore studio
practice, and expand their visual thinking through hands-on coursework.
The portfolio review is the official entry point into the BFA Studio Art program.
Students who pass will receive a checkmark on their degree audit; that requirement
must be met before their degree can be conferred.
