WCU鈥檚 Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program is designed to prepare students for advanced
careers in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial analysis. The program combines
rigorous academic coursework with practical, real鈥憌orld application, giving students
a strong command of accounting principles while developing the analytical and professional
skills demanded by today鈥檚 employers.
Delivered by experienced faculty within WCU鈥檚 AACSB鈥慳ccredited College of Business,
the MAcc offers a flexible and comprehensive pathway for both recent graduates and
working professionals. Graduates leave the program well prepared to adapt and contribute
confidently in many roles.
Master of Accountancy
What You鈥檒l Learn
The Master of Accountancy Program builds on your existing accounting education with
a 30-semester hour program focusing on subjects such as accounting theory, auditing
standards, concepts of taxation, tax research, accounting information systems and
business law. Students will also receive the 150-hours of experience necessary to
satisfy AICPA and state board requirements for CPA licensure. Full-time students can
complete the program in 12 months while part-time students can finish in 20 months.

regionally and locally prestigious employers such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bank
of America, Volvo, Mission Hospitals, Gould Killian and Biltmore Company. The program
provides ample opportunities for networking at various events featuring representatives
from employers from across Western North Carolina. The Bureau of Labor Statistics
states the average salary for accountants is $81,680 and predicts the job field will
grow by 5% by 2034.
The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding
of the financial, analytical, and strategic aspects of accounting. Through case-based
learning and practical application, students strengthen their ability to evaluate
complex business issues, interpret financial information, and make informed recommendations
in a dynamic professional environment.

strategic decisions, and apply accounting knowledge to real-world cases and business
situations.
The MAcc program requires the completion of 30 credit hours. A minimum average GPA
of 3.0 must be met in all MAcc courses to satisfy degree requirements.
