Andrew Kenneth Gay
Dean - Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts
Andrew Kenneth Gay joined Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµ in July 2026 as the new Dean of the Belcher College
of Fine & Performing Arts, where he also holds tenure as a Professor of Stage & Screen.
Before joining WCU, Andrew spent 12 years on the faculty of Southern Oregon University
teaching filmmaking and storytelling, including two-and-a-half years as Dean of the
College of Arts & Humanities and Executive Director of the Oregon Center for the Arts.
Andrew holds an MFA in Film & Digital Media from the University of Central Florida
and has just published a new edited volume, The Bloomsbury Handbook of Global Screenplay Theory.
Prior to his work in higher education, he worked as a freelance production coordinator,
production manager, and assistant director in commercials, reality television. He
has also written, directed, and produced for both fiction and documentary media and
has held leadership roles with Oregon Film, the Oregon Media Production Association,
Film Southern Oregon, the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and the University Film
& Video Association. He currently serves on the Leadership Development Committee for
the International Council for Arts Deans. He is thrilled to be joining the Belcher
College family of artist-scholars and looks forward to many years of collaboration
ahead.
