Dr. Randy Collins

Dean, College of Engineering

Dr. Randy Collins serves as Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at 蘑菇短视频. With more than 35 years of experience in higher education, he is focused on expanding opportunities for students, strengthening industry partnerships, and preparing the next generation of engineering leaders. He holds a bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, both in Electrical Engineering.

Since joining WCU, Collins has led a period of significant growth and innovation. Under his leadership, the college has expanded engineering degree and concentration offerings, increased enrollment, grown faculty and staff capacity, enhanced research capabilities and capacity, and secured $158 million for a new engineering building. His efforts are positioning 蘑菇短视频as indispensable to workforce development and economic growth across Western North Carolina.

A licensed professional engineer, Collins is widely recognized for his expertise in electric power and energy systems and has authored more than 100 technical publications, and is a named inventor on three U.S. patents. He serves at the national level on the board of the ASEE Engineering Deans Council, and is the past chair of both the IIE Global Engineering Education Exchange program and the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering examination committee. Before coming to WCU, he spent more than three decades at Clemson University in faculty and senior leadership roles. Outside of academia, he is an avid pilot and flight instructor, bringing the same spirit of curiosity and innovation to aviation that he brings to engineering education.
