The Alternate PIN is required to access the Registration and Schedule option in myWCU. It is required for your initial registration each semester. The Alt PIN is a randomly generated six-digit number that is given to you by your advisor to ensure that you have discussed your course scheduling. Should you be unable to contact your advisor, the department of your major will also have this number.

*Graduate and Distant students don't require an Alt PIN*

Time-Ticket FAQs

In 2016 Faculty Senate recommended that undergraduate registration times be based on the minimum number of hours a student needs to complete their degree and not the number of hours a student has earned. A formula to calculate the “minimum hours necessary for degree completion”, or MHNDC for short, from the degree audit was approved. It determines students’ registration times.

There are actually two calculations as represented by the gold and purple paths in the graphic below.

Gold Path: program hours minus earned and in-progress hours accurately reflects hours needed to graduate for undeclared students starting their college careers.

Purple Path: the sum of the hours remaining in the Liberal Studies, major, minor and concentration of the blocks on the degree evaluation accurately reflects the hours needed to graduate for students who have declared a major.

It’s about a 50/50 split. Half the time they’re the same number and half the time they are different numbers. When they’re different, it is the higher of the two numbers that represents the minimum hours need to complete your degree. This is the MHNDC.

The MHNDC is calculated independently for each program and the time-ticket reflects the program that takes the most hours to complete. Students completing multiple majors need to balance their progress across all of their programs.
Minors, even optional minors, affect the MHNDC. Students completing a minor need to balance their progress in the minor with their progress in their major & concentration.
Double-dipping reduces the hours remaining at twice the normal rate.
No, it does not display as a single number in Degree Works.
If time-tickets have already been set -NO. Once time-tickets have been set we’ll only move your registration time forward. We’ll never move your registration time back.
If the substitution lowers your MHNDC and qualifies you for an earlier registration time, you will be assigned an earlier time-ticket.
If time-tickets have already been set, and the additional credit qualifies you for an earlier registration time, you will be assigned an earlier time-ticket. If the transfer credit was applied to your record before time-tickets were set, it was already considered in the MHNDC calculation.
Members of the Honors College, Active-Duty Military and Veterans, OAR students that qualify for early registration as an accommodation, and student athletes are the only groups that receive priority registration. For most students, priority registration allows them to register one group ahead of where the MHNDC places them.
