Radiation Safety & Compliance
The Safety and Risk Management Office manages the Radiation Safety Program to ensure compliance with the use of radioactive materials, ionizing radiation generating devices, and Class 3B and 4 lasers at WCU.
We aim to:
- provide radiological safety information to ensure a safe workplace and keep worker and public exposure As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)
- comply with federal and state regulations pertaining to the use of radioactive materials and equipment
- maintain laser exposures below the Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) limit
