Western Carolina Power has once again been recognized for its commitment to workplace safety, earning a safety award for completing another year without a lost-time accident. The recognition marks the eighth consecutive year WCP employees have worked without a lost-time accident and the utility鈥檚 18th safety award in the past 20 years.

Over the past eight years, WCP employees have worked more than 150,000 hours without a lost-time accident while operating and maintaining the electric distribution system, responding to outages and emergencies, and completing maintenance and improvement projects throughout the Cullowhee Valley. These hours include routine operations as well as after-hours, weekend, and severe-weather response work required to maintain reliable electric service.

Safety is WCP鈥檚 top organizational value and central to its mission to provide safe, reliable electricity to customers throughout the Cullowhee Valley. WCP鈥檚 safety philosophy is grounded in the belief that work-related injuries can be prevented and that employees must have the training, equipment, resources, and support needed to perform their work safely while protecting the public.
