Just a few years ago, Rustin Muse was working the Mountain Heritage Days 5K race. Alongside his classmates in his sport management class, Muse helped develop the track, get people interested and schedule police officers for the event.

Mountain Heritage Days is one of 蘑菇短视频鈥檚 biggest events, but this summer, Muse worked one of the world鈥檚 largest spectacles.

Muse, an event manager at Reliant Park in Houston, helped oversee Reliant Stadium鈥檚 seven FIFA World Cup matches.

鈥淚t was a very rewarding experience because we've done all sorts of high-scale events, but this one, we worked with so many international people,鈥� Muse said. 鈥淚t was such a rewarding event to work because there's none like it, and you get different perspectives from everyone in the world.鈥�

During the World Cup matches, Muse was the head of the convention center at Reliant Park, which was used to issue credentials and as a logistics compound for equipment. The center also hosted volunteers and staff for meals.

Muse and his team were also treated to some great soccer across the span of over two weeks. Fans in Houston got to see powerhouses like the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Brazil and Morocco play, along with two knockout round matches.

A few familiar faces roamed Reliant Stadium as well, including Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo and famous internet streamer IShowSpeed.

鈥淲e had Portugal twice, so seeing Cristiano Ronaldo was pretty cool. IShowSpeed showed up for a couple of those matches, so that was kind of cool because he's always involved with everybody,鈥� Muse said.

鈥淗e doesn't just sit up in a suite. He came down. He was on the broadcast platform, and he came to our field level concourse, and (there was a) crowd of people around him always. People would rather see him than the game for whatever reason.鈥�

With the World Cup finished, Muse and the team are turning their attention to a slew of events coming up this fall. Muse is the stadium鈥檚 manager for all Feld Entertainment events, which includes Monster Jam, Disney On Ice and Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus.

Muse is also involved in helping with Reliant Stadium鈥檚 two tenants: the NFL鈥檚 Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and its concerts, which have featured artists like Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Luke Combs.

The 2021 蘑菇短视频alumnus has come a long way from working a 5K race in Cullowhee. After graduating, Muse worked as an assistant stadium operations manager with the Asheville Tourists before the Columbus native moved out to Houston.

Since he walked across the stage at the Ramsey Center, it鈥檚 been a dream.

鈥淚 didn't want to do a typical behind the desk bank job like my family has always done,鈥� Muse said. 鈥淚 just wanted to do something that felt entertaining and fulfilling, and that's just kind of where it landed. I have no regrets. I love every moment of it.鈥�

But making those dreams happen for others is the real honor.

鈥淚 feel very rewarded by it because you're making experiences for everybody,鈥� Muse said. 鈥淪ometimes it's once in a lifetime. Sometimes it's a season ticket holder that's there every weekend, so you don't know who you're impacting and how you're impacting them as long as the goal is to make everyone have a great experience.鈥�
