Prospective Students
Admission to the Brinson Honors College at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµis a selective process. Applicants for WCU's freshman class may be invited to join the Brinson Honors College based on their high school academic performance. Upperclassman may also apply to join the Brinson Honors College if their academic record at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓÆµmeets Brinson Honors College requirement.
Upon acceptance to the Brinson Honors College:
- Many students reside amongst fellow Honors students in Balsam Hall, home of The Brinson Honors College and an in-house advising center.
- First-year Honors students begin with the Honors Forum, and continue with Honors courses and Honors contracts.
- Students may choose to participate in service learning projects related to his/her choice of major(s)/minor(s)
- Students may consider studying abroad to gain global perspective
- Brinson Honors College students may choose to participate in a funded undergraduate research project, obtain an Interdisciplinary Studies degree, or apply to one of the several Pre-Professional Programs.
- Honors students consider distinguished post-graduate fellowships and scholarships.
- Work in regional, national, or international internships via Career Services
- Honors students also may choose to hone their leadership skills through opportunities such as The Brinson Honors College Board of Directors. In partnership with the off-campus Brinson Honors College Advisory Board, this group works alongside the dean to govern the Brinson Honors College.
- Upon completion of their academic requirements, Brinson Honors College students wear the Honors Medallion and graduate with The Brinson Honors College Diploma.
Merit-Based Scholarships
The Brinson Honors College offers scholarships, based on academic merit, to incoming first-year students. As funds allow, The Brinson Honors College also provides scholarships and one-time grants to continuing Honors students. In addition, the top one percent of applicants to WCU's freshman class are invited to apply and interview for the Brinson Honors College Scholars program, which provides full in-state tuition and an annual stipend.

- The centrally located Honors residence halls—Balsam and Blue Ridge—provide a living, learning community and the potential to build life-changing relationships
- Direct access to the Honors office, located in Balsam: faculty and staff, advising services, and meeting space
- Honors courses with smaller class size, less lecture, and more one-on-one work with dedicated faculty
- Priority registration
- Library privileges equivalent to those of graduate students
- The receipt of an Brinson Honors College diploma, upon completion of requirements
- Opportunity to participate in the Brinson Honors College Board of Directors
