ĢƵ is committed to providing and maintaining safe and healthful working conditions for all employees. This commitment is rooted in the belief that a safe workplace protects individual well-being and supports the University’s mission by fostering a productive, engaged, and resilient workforce. The University Safety and Health Program has been established to fulfill this commitment and to ensure compliance with all applicable occupational safety and environmental health regulations and statutory requirements at the federal, state, and local level.
It is recognized that the complete elimination of all workplace risks is not always possible. However, through proactive planning, effective management, and consistent application of safety measures, most hazards associated with university operations can be identified, eliminated, or controlled to minimize the likelihood of injury or illness. The effectiveness of the program depends on the shared responsibility of all members of the University community, including administrators, faculty, staff, and student employees.

This Policy applies to all University employees.
“Safety and Health Program” means the University’s comprehensive framework for promoting safe work practices, preventing accidents, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety and environmental health standards.
ٳܱǰ” means a university employee who has authority to manage, direct, and evaluate the work of other employees, including faculty, staff, and student employees.
“EDz” means any individual employed by the University.
The Safety and Health Program is implemented through coordinated efforts between university leadership, supervisory staff, and employees. Supervisors bear the primary responsibility for integrating safety into daily operations, which includes:

The University Safety and Health Program Manuals are the guiding documents for implementing this Policy. They contain detailed information about roles, responsibilities, and procedures necessary to achieve compliance with applicable laws and to maintain a safe campus environment. Deans, directors, and department heads are required to be familiar with the contents of the applicable manuals and to work in close collaboration with the Safety and Risk Management Director on all matters related to occupational safety and environmental health.
Failure to abide with this Policy shall be considered a violation of University Policy and may result in corrective action in accordance with university disciplinary procedures.
This policy shall be reviewed and revised as necessary every three (3) years.
